Melissa Fernandez is a Master’s student in the Learning Sciences program, in the department of Educational & Counselling Psychology at McGill University. She earned a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) in Psychology, with a double major in Diversity and Social Justice Studies from the University of Prince Edward Island.

In the last five years, Melissa has worked with various organizations assisting adolescents and adults with a mental illness and developmental disorder. Since 2013 she has worked as a support worker and behavioural interventionist for young adults with ASD. Her research interests include: cognitive impairments, developmental disorders, ASD, EI, policy and practice, service delivery programs, community psychology, and social inequality. She received a Graduate Excellence Fellowship valued at $5,000 for the 2015-2016 academic year.
